warehouse - industry. the  utopia  of  the  industrial  society

In sociology, industrial society refers to a society with a modern societal structure. Such a structure developed in the west in the period of time following the industrial revolution. Pre-modern, or Pre-industrial society are also called agrarian societies. Industrial societies are generally mass societies.

Industrial society is characterized by the use of external energy sources,

such as fossil fuels, to increase the rate and scale of production.[1]

The production of food is shifted to large commercial farms where

the products of industry, such as combine harvesters and

petroleum based fertilizers, are used to decrease required human labor while

increasing production. No longer needed for the production of food,

excess labor is moved into these factories where mechanization is

utilized to further increase efficiency.

As populations grow, and mechanization is further refined,

often to the level of automation, many workers shift to expanding service industries.

 How can I contact Kraftwerk?

The band apparently does not actively encourage correspondence.

There is no official fan club, and no way of making contact has been announced.

Logic was introduced into AI research by John McCarthy in his 1958 Advice Taker proposal. Logic is used for knowledge representation and problem solving, but it can be applied to other problems as well. For example, the satplan algorithm uses logic for planning and inductive logic programming is a method for learning.

Industrial society makes urbanization desirable, in part so that workers can be closer to centers of production, and the service industry can provide labor to workers and those that benefit financially from them, in exchange for a piece of production profits with which they can buy goods. This leads to the rise of very large cities and surrounding suburban areas with a high rate of economic activity.

These urban centers require the input of external energy sources in order to overcome the diminishing returns[2] of agricultural consolidation, due partially to the lack of nearby arable land, associated transportation and storage costs, and are otherwise unsustainable.[3] This makes the reliable availability of the needed energy resources high priority in industrial government policies.

plug-in city ARCHIGRAM

A megastructure of infrastructure connects towering silos of moveable units - later dubbed "capsules" - so that shops can relocate with changes in business and a family can move on a whim, all connected to a grid providing each capsule with its necessary functions - power, water, and means of communication. Each silo has its own purpose, from schools to commerce to dwellings.

The mobility of these capsules is provided by giant cranes which lift and move them; the mobility of the essential functions is proposed to be provided by hovercraft moving in between the silos.

story_of_utopias

UTOPIA has long been another name for the unreal

and the impossible. We have set utopia over against

the world. As a matter of fact, it is our utopias that

make the world tolerable to us: the cities and mansions

that people dream of are those in which they finally

live. The more that men react upon their environment

and make it over after a human pattern, the more con-

tinuously do they live in utopia; but when there is a

breach between the world of affairs and the overworld

of utopia, we become conscious of the part that the

will-to-utopia has played in our lives, and we see our

utopia as a separate reality.
