locus solus public: conversations curatives
project. London 27/4- 2/5 2009
Conversations curatives (talking cure) is an active role for Canterel. Conversations curatives
is a locus-solus phrase used here as a critical notion to destabilize locus, solus and representation.
The project seeks to reframe locus-solus in conflicting environments of the city, using the media of
walking, and techniques of collecting, re-writing and recycling data. The actors will perform walking
sessions within gentrified areas of London (Elephant & Castle). Passing through successive urban loci,
they will filter/transform local data (textual findings, discussions with residents, readings in
libraries of autonomous spaces, participation in collective activities) as they intersect with certain
locus-solus fragments. A locus-solus-wiki is an open working structure that contains and deforms,
in analogy with Raymon Roussels textual and mnemonic architecture. It will be used as an operative manual
of “rimes de faits”, rhymes for events, creating multiple links between diverse utopias, places, publics.
